"...will be encouraged to trust God and know that their past does not have to dictate the outcome of their future. They can be victorious and live full of faith and confidence." - W. Veronica Lisare.
Has it ever crossed your mind that your existence on this earth is pointless? That you are nowhere near the thought, you should be in life. Everyone had expectations that you still needed to meet. You become too focused on becoming a version of yourself that everyone else wants, and you constantly compare yourself to others who have already dived into the next chapter of their life. As human beings, people can spend a lot of time being anxious about anything, especially their relationships with other people. But, in reality, the only relationship valuable in life is the one with yourself.
The only person who journeys with you through your entire life is you. Yes, you and only you right from birth to death. Do not take this as something morbid; this is only meant to emphasize the importance of knowing yourself and your relationship with yourself.
According to W. Veronica Lisare, in her book, The Other Side Of Fear, she wrote that accepting God's unconditional love and understanding His grace set her free from condemnation, self-hatred, and shame. She no longer believes that she is unworthy of love and would expect rejection because Veronica found her confidence in knowing her true identity. Fear now is losing its grip on her as she embraces her true identity as a daughter of the King of kings.
The Four most essential reasons for Self-knowledge
1. Self-love. If you know yourself, the bad, the good, and the unpleasant, you can start to accept who you are (exactly as you are). Taking some aspects of your character that you do not see as positive can feel like a challenge, such as being lazy.
However, it is vital to honor that instead of denying it if that is part of you. It is still there, even if you decline it. Learning to see the benefits of laziness, savoring it, and not letting it go against you will usher you to cuddle it as part of who you are and, thus, love it. You can move from love to nurturing, growing, developing, thriving, and flourishing.
2. Independence. Having self-knowledge makes you independent of others' opinions. It is irrelevant what others advise and might think if you know what works for you (what is not suitable for you and what is).
You are the expert of your being. You are your personality, and you are in charge of your thoughts. Self-awareness and independence are also linked to confidence. Knowing what you stand for in life and who you are can help to provide you with a strong sense of self-confidence.
3. Clear decision-making. As you know, with knowledge comes insight and confidence - which can make the decision-making process (for complicated and simple choices) much more straightforward. There is no little space for doubt as soon as you gain that complete insight. People all speak two (2) languages: the language of the head and that of the heart. It is easy to decide if they are aligned. But if they are not, it just depends on your mood and what you think is right or wrong.
For example, you are buying a house, and you find the one that ticks all the boxes (in your head). However, there is something about the place that does not sit well. Having two different dialogues in your system makes it impossible to be precise. Today, your head is ruling, and you want to buy the house. Tomorrow, your heart tells you otherwise. Aligning your heart and head will give clarity, which supports easy decision-making.
4. Belief in your path. There will be obstacles when you begin figuring out what you want. Do not let anything or anyone discourage you from continuing. Believe in your decisions and believe in yourself. Stay positive and keep moving forward.
The essential thing to bear is that you are worth it; you can be happy and go another day. Life will not give you anything you cannot overcome or handle. Once you accept and love yourself and your desired path, the smoke will clear, and you will breathe again easily. Be kind to yourself, and life will be a whole lot brighter.
